Details

The guêpière was invented in 1945 by Marcel Rochas, its name derives by the french word “guêpe” (wasp). It is a sort of development of the corset (under garment), proposed by designers to bring back the boned corset, but World War II cut short most fashion innovations. In the 1950s the guêpière, also known as a bustier or waspie, became fashionable.
